What is real happiness?
That question has been a motivation to Dutch photographer Annemarie Ruys to seek and see reality as it is using photography medium. With her Glamseekers project, she bring the audience to a new contemplative understanding what is happiness and how people sometimes try to grasp the concept using their own understanding and condition.
Glamseekers tell the stories of how human, separated with in the boundaries of country and culture, see the concept of happiness. It try to reveal underneath of reality, how we, represented by group of woman from variety of background, perceive happiness and deal with reality.
With her works of portrait and conceptual story telling, Annemarie Ruys take us to see who some of us understand that although for majority opinion of the present society for the concept of happiness is related to social status and wealth, true happiness is always within us.
As a professional documentary and portrait photographer, Annemarie Ruys context focus on portraits of individuals from particular social background.
A portrait is a story with a history. Annemarie moves like on a journey of discovery, in its own stride, holds open open and without prejudice.
Those characters selected by he himself and gain permission from their own notes, which are hidden from the others. With a strong intuition and pushed against authenticity, Annemarie can get extraordinary results.
Annemarie has extensive experience in the field of art. He has completed studies in photography and art and apply their knowledge first of all about the depiction of various other social events.
Subsequently he worked with Sotheby’s auctioneer, working for six years in various departments; an experience that’s worth getting to know the value and the basics of art.
Through the auctioneer Sotheby’s Annemarie was introduced to a variety of art weekend, so he can move to the next step, designing a range of works of art and jewellery. He has also designed all the stuff for the Tefaf Art Fair in the world, such as the unique Millennium silver Mussel along with Royal Netherlands silver, artist Jan van Nouhuys, under its own lebelnya O’riginal Ruys (Ro’R).
